CHRISTMAS CHEER................

Okay so 'tis the season to be jolly' hey so im going to spread some christmas cheer and share a couple of pearlers with you. Keep in mind both stories are in fact true and as Judge Judy would say 'she couldnt make this stuff up!'. So that being said i'll start with the christmas tree erection - putting the christmas tree up with lots of joy and happiness - because thats what your meant to do at christmas time apparently). Actually it wasnt quite as 'painful' as I thought it would be the kids were actually really great helpers instead of 'really great helpers - not - if you know what I mean' So there we were tree up - time to turn the lights on - lights on! tra la la!! beautiful.
You know actually the christmas tree lights are my favourite time of christmas - late at night when the kids are in bed and all is quite I love to sit by with only the light of the christmas tree. Anyway back to the point - im sitting on the couch next to the christmas tree and actually it was still to early for the lights to really glow if you know what I mean. But as Indies face was practically in the tree she could see them better and then in a curious sort of way she started blowing at the lights. Then she looks up at me and says "im blowing the lights out!", im like ah okay but you cant blow them out Indie. But like wind between her ears in it went and out the other side and never registered and alas she continued to try to blow the tree lights out like candles on a cake.
Actually it was really quite funny watching her puff with all her mite and then panting breathlessly. Cackling to myself I told greg what she was doing as he hadnt noticed yet, just as Indie was oblivious to everything accept trying to blow those lights out. Greg struggling to hold back his laughter stood and watched as again I tried to explain that she wasnt going to blow them out, but as soon as I had uttered my first words greg had just as soon cut me off and whispered for me not to tell her because it might actually keep her occupied for a while (and out of trouble, seen as she wasnt currently destroying something). and he kept cackling - he can be so mean. But with a sly smile of my own - it wasnt actually such a bad idea so I kept my mouth shut and we let her blow away.

The next little bit of christmas cheer happened this very afternoon. By now any decoration within really has been pulled from the tree and tossed around the lounge room and destroyed. Note to manufacturers of christmas decorations - foam should never be allowed - its not only a danger to children but a pain in the arse to vacuum. So as well as the foam we have ball balls strewn across the floor - a hazard in itself but not as you would imagine.
Indie running around knickerless as usual falls over and I think nothing of it - theres no screaming not even a tear. Standing there next to the toy box she is unusally still - longer than 30 seconds is really good for her. Anyway she looks up at me and says 'its in my bum', puzzled im like 'what?' and she repeats 'its in my bum' as shes trying to reach around to her behind I look to see whats shes talking about and she has this silver ball ball firmly wedged between her bum cheeks!. Well its a first for me, I tell you i've seen a lot in my life time - but never that. It was hilarious. I called to Greg and motioned for him to look and of course he laughed.

So I guess in conclusion Indie is turning out to be quite the little jolly christmas clown.

Merry Christmas

DAYS LIKE THESE......

Well its been an interesting week to say the least. I dont know how animated this blog is going to be cause quite frankly I am flat. You know those weeks that seem to fly by and everything seems to go flawlessly?? Me neither. Its been so long I forget what they look like.

On the other hand I can tell you about those other weeks. The truly shit weeks. Theres no nicer way to put it. Theres really no need to cause it has been that bad. Let me teach you some of the basics. There are two things parents fear the most, more than lice or being pulled into the principals office, more than finding your little angel playing in a puddle and realising its actually their own wee, and more than finding a floater in the bath.

Its Vomit and then Diarrhea and then vomit and diarrhea together. I am not kidding. These two things and then these two things combined make you wish you'd just spontaniously combust. Im sure if you actually struck up a match in the vicinity of the gases coming from my two little sick puppies you would go up in a ball of flames.
Lets just say its been a long week. WEEK. Thats right week, these things dont go away overnight unfortunately as hard as I prayed to god to make it, I think my knuckles were bleeding from clenching my hands so tight. Thank the lord though, and I am truly GRATEFUL (??) that I only got the arse end of things. What a weird thing to say hey?.

Well feeling sorry for myself and surfing the chat rooms I discovered a lady who woke up this week to her child vomiting into her mouth. 'Hey mummy I feel sick BLAA'... so totally gross and then the mother was so grossed out she vomited back. So it could have been worse. So that is why I thank the lord. Even though I was scooping up shit all week. And you know what? It wouldnt have been that bad if it was in the toilet or a nappy but Indie has this thing right. Every time she gets sick she will not go on the toilet. It drives me insane. And its not only cause I think she cant make it in time because there were some times that they wernt so runny they were dripping down her legs. That and the fact she was peeing her knickers as well makes me think she just has this weird little annoying habit of reverting to a baby when shes sick.

I have thrown so many knickers in the bin this week and it killed me cause they were her Dora knickers. Big deal I hear you saying? Well dont knock it, dont you know Dora's cool. So I like Dora she taught me some spanish, its true. Anyway so after, I think I lasted a day, of washing knickers I started tossing them in the bin, as well as her last pair of pants. I couldnt stand it any longer and I did ration that they were only seven dollars. Just dont remind me on one of those weeks that im raiding the kids money tins to scrape enough together for milk and bread, I could do a lot with an extra seven bucks thats for sure. Ah life in your twenties hey, well at least I can tell myself things will improve when I turn thiry, no more counting pennies and it cant be worse than my earlier years of surviving on two minute noodles. Anyway back to the point, I've had a pretty shitty week, no pun intended.

But it didnt end there. See I took the kids to play outside and we were all having fun by the swings, I was weeding, obsessively I find it calming, when indie said in her little sweet voice 'I got toilet!' Holy Cow okay 'Lets Go!', and we run to the toilet whip her pants down to discover she'd already done it in her pants and now it was all down her legs. (Picture me right here banging my head against the wall.)

So they were the knickers and pants that ended up in the bin but I still had to wash the little bug so I put her in the shower and was washing shit off her legs when I heard Ashy crying. Fantastic, he was still outside by himself. Imaging he'd fallen over and couldnt get back up, I hurry Indie out of the shower so I can attend to my other problem outside.

So Indie wrapped in towel and sitting on the couch I go outside to discover Ash standing by the swings screaming with his foot in the air (as far as in the air goes for ashy) - He'd been stung by a bee on the bottom of his foot. Fantastic. What the hell was I going to tell Greg. And honestly thats the first thought I had because Gregs always bitching about shoes on the kids when they are outside, and even though he had shoes on when he first went outside, they hadnt stayed on for long.. That wasnt gonna fly. Shit.

Anyway Greg was asleep, hopefully he stayed that way. Well god must have been attending to someones elses needs at this stage because just as I put ashy down on the couch, foot in hand with a pair of tweezers and ashy screaming his little heart out, Gregs walks out. Right now Im thinking 'oh just go away you silly bitch' but no he pipes up with 'whats happened'? 'Bee sting' I mumble and then it starts 'bitch bitch blaa blaa' I guess I sort of tuned out cause I knew it was coming, I think I might have said 'whatever' or 'shut up' but anyway I was trying to find a torch at this point and concentrating on trying to get a stinger out the bottom of his pudgy little foot.

So stinger removed, check, he was fine, still crying, and I had to go. Indie had an appointment to get to to see the urologist at the hospital. Which is another story all together because if you cared to look that up you'd find out she had to have a kidney and bladder ultrasound, fantastic considering she had diarrhea and was using her pants as a means of disposal. For your information, just cause I bet your wondering, yes she did poo her pants in the waiting room. Pause for your laughter.

Anyway so I leave the house with instructions for Greg to call an ambulance if he starts to have trouble breathing or is swelling up. Asher being the smart little cookie that he is proceeded to tell me he was having trouble breathing (he wasnt), 'tell your dad all about it' I said as I walked out the door. Okay well I bet you think the story ends there, but alas it doesnt, and although there was more poo - one very disastrous occasion being in the bank, I think we've heard enough about poo full stop.

Well those of you that know ashy know he has Cerebral Palsy and is my floppy little rag doll. So how it goes is when he falls down he doesnt have the strength to brace himself with his bendy little arms and he bops his little face full force to the floor. Nothing much you can do to prevent it and its happened many a time, so much so for a time he had a permanent bruise to the bottom of his chin.

Anyway there were three occasions when this happened previously and he knocked his two front teeth till they were wobbly and one looked like it was starting to die. The last time he fell like that he had his dummy in his mouth and his gum was bloody and bruised, a trip to the dentist or two and his teeth were fine, no nerve damage. Anyway his teeth didnt die and they had there color back and then it happened again. Just this last week.

And the funny thing was, not funny haha, he was only about four inches off the ground. But he had his dummy in his mouth so it banged them up pretty bad. his tooth was bleeding and when I was trying to find out if he'd bitten through his lip or something blood sort of went everywhere and he freaked out. He screamed for about an hour because he thought he teeth were going to fall out. So finally I convinced him they wernt going to fall out and he would only occasionally burst into little whimpers when he remembered that it hurt.

Aside from that its just been the usual capers like telling asher he would turn into a cat if he shared his dinner with the cat. So when he didnt stop I told him I could see whiskers growing he burst into tears 'but I dont want to be a kitty cat!'. So now for the rest of the week even though I told him I was tricking, he's been asking me 'mum if I dont go to bed will I turn into a kitty cat?' 'mum if I dont eat this will I turn into a kitty cat?' etc etc and its even gone as far as him telling Indie when shes misbehaving (or not following his orders) thats she'll turn into a kitty cat, and then theres the times he just starts meowing. So I guess kids really do believe what you tell them, and in that case I better tell Indie that there is no Monster that will eat her if she does another poo in her pants (I can be so mean).

Back To Nature

BACK TO NATURE

Okay so I havent posted for a while. I have been busy though and I have a couple of little gems for you all. I think im just going to get straight to the point with this one. I have a problem, actually two about three feet tall. One called Asher the other Indie whom it would turn out LOVE and I mean LOVE being naked. I cannot for the life of me keep their clothes on. Now this is not something that is quite uncommon in the world of children and stages BUT when you have two doing it at the same time it can be very, and I mean very difficult.

You see by the time I realise one has taken their pants off and I am chasing them to get them back on the other has stripped. And so it goes like this. Back and forth chasing them around the house. Now granted it is at home it wouldnt be that bad if it was just that - at home - but alas its not. Walking through Harbor Town the other week before I knew it asher had his pants and nappy around his ankles in the mall. argh! Once asher has stripped Indie is like NUDIE NUDIE - lucky she wasnt there this time, thank goodness I just whipped his pants up and that was that.

Indie however is also going through another stage. Im going to call it the ' i love acting and pretending dollys' stage. She pretends to talk through her dolly acting out certain senarios which is actually quite cute until she pretends the dolly wets her pants - and indie dutifully wets her pants - her actual pants with actual wee. gross. So I try to tell her off but indie didint do it so I end up talking to the dolly held up infront of her face. Lovey. Ah the joys of parenthood.

On another note we bought two cats, yay! I convinced myself we needed them as they are good therapy and they were for the kids. You see Asher after spending a coupe days at Ellas house fell in love with their dog Benny. It made my heart melt watching him play with Benny and even more so when the next day he asked if we could go over again to play with Benny or if Benny could come and stay at our house. Talk about pulling the heart strings.

Anyway this was not possible so he started begging, and I mean really begging, for a dog. He even drew a picture of the dog he wanted and told me that he was going to the pet store and he would be back soon. I gently reminded him that it was to far to walk to the pet store and he would have to take the car but he didnt have a licence. Fine then he said 'you drive me to the pet store now deal?' um no I explained we dont have dog food or a bed for him to sleep in or toys for that matter.

Well this got his little brain ticking and he wandered back inside. About 10 minutes later he emerges with in hand a detailed picture of the dog he wants, plus bed, food, toys. Hmmm. Somehow I dont think thats gonna cut it but he is so determined, and I am so weak that I told him to go ask his dad. The hand ball dont you love it? he he.

Now I know his daddy really would like a dog but I also knew it was impossible for us to have one at this stage so I devised a plan. I said to ashy 'how about we have a look on the internet at the types of doggys you might like just so im sure I know which one you mean'. With a renewed energy he agrees and sits on my lap as I search the web. Well we start at dogs and then miraculously find some gorgeous cats in need of a good home. Gregs really a softy at heart so I know convincing him is as easy as getting him there. So I suggest we get in the car just to go have a look at a few and before you know it we are in the car on our way home with not one, but two lovely cats hehe.

The kids love the cats, I love the cats and so does greggy. The kids have been terrorizing them a bit, chasing them around, walking them on two legs, shaking hands, all kinds of things and the cats manage to cope, by hiding most of the time. So if you have any hints on how to manage, two kids two cats and chasing tails be sure to give me the hot tip!

Weird Little Creatures These Kids

Kids are wonderful little creatures arnt they? Thats what we think before we have them at least, and when they are sleeping like angels with their little lips all smooshed up. Then come the things people dont tell you. The things they fail to mention. Dont get me wrong I love my kids and I wouldnt trade them for the world (most days), but theres those moments, sometimes days, when you think 'who is this little weirdo?'. Other times they crack you up with their funny quirks and the things they say and do, a bit like today.

Now I dont want to freak all those how dont have kids, well actually maybe I do. Im a bit un-decided there. I rather wouldnt want you going into something waaaay unexpected. Its a bit like ordering a good book and getting an elephant. Maybe not quite.

Anyway, there are the things that make you go ewww. Like today. Indie the sweet little thing is toilet trained and of late she likes her privacy when going no.2. She'll tell you she needs to go to the toilet, she'll run there, open the door, tell you to turn the light on, i'll sit her on the toilet and she tell me to 'get out my way!' .nice. So I do, and close the door, as little miss requests. Anyway usually I stand there, sometimes I dont. She'd been in there a little while when I though maybe she was taking a bit long. You know, maybe shoving toilet paper down the loo, or brushing the walls with the toilet brush, all of which shes done. Thank god for bleach. So I investigate. I open the door and ask if she is okay, and she sitting there with one hand behind her, by her bum, and one hand holding on to the toilet so she doesnt fall in (another thing shes done). Um okay I think what the hell is she doing? shes going to get poo on her hand. So I say indie what are you doing? where is your hand? And she tells me its in her bum. Urghhhh yuk.

Now you might think that would surprise me, but it didnt. I've learnt not to be surprised by anything that girl does, she a bag of tricks I tell ya. So calmly I tell her its disgusting and to get her hand out of it. So she does, she tells me shes finished and she gets off. I pull her pants up, making sure not to touch her hands or anywhere else she could have wiped and take her to wash her hands. And then mine, and then once for luck.

Then theres the things that you dont know whether it freaks you out or its a little funny. God only knows what they have been teaching Asher at kindy, or maybe its to many maisy animal videos. But today, I kid you not Asher was pretending to lay eggs. Thats right, lay eggs. like a chicken. Then he was looking after his 'eggs', and then they hatched.

Three of them apparently, sweet little birdys. And yes everyone got a hold, or two or three. And kisses and then they were following him around flying behind him. We had to pat them, we had to kiss them. He even brought a chair in from the lounge so they could sit next to his daddys bed. For about an hour we entertained those little birdys, until, I told Asher it was time to have a bath. Apparently if I made him have a bath his birdys would cry because they didnt want to, so I told him his little birdys would have to cry or get over it because he was having a bath, even if it was kicking and screaming, which it was.

Then there are the things which make you laugh. Give you a little giggle, or crack you up. Sure there are the obvious things like the swearing, Indies mastered it. Calling me 'Stupid Head', yelling out 'fucking hell' at totally inappropriate times and having old ladies or prudes giving you the glare. Then there are the moments that only a camera can catch. Truly hilarious. So if you'd like to check out some of the fun from today and the past few weeks head to my facebook page and have a look at my new photo album 'Weird Little Creatures' for a smile. Might just brighten your day, it did mine.
